Jakob Wissel was born on August 22, 1996, in Ocala, Florida. Jakob Wissel was born to German immigrant Ditmar Wissel and Linda Wissel. Jakob Wissel has three half-brothers, all of whom have had a significant effect on him. Jakob Wissel attended Blessed Trinity Catholic School from kindergarten through eighth grade. Jakob Wissel participated in flag football, basketball, track, and the Boy Scouts, earning the rank of Eagle Scout in 2012. Jakob Wissel attended First United Methodist Church as a child, where he performed in the choir, earning the Head Chorister's Medal, and served the church as an acolyte and crucifer. Jakob Wissel traveled to Peru and Costa Rica on mission trips with the church. Jakob Wissel volunteered with the Salvation Army, Interfaith Community Services, and Blessed Trinity Elder Care. Jakob Wissel attended Trinity Catholic High School, where he participated in football, basketball, and track and field until he had two knee operations. After being unable to engage in sports due to knee issues, Jakob Wissel began focused more on songwriting, which he discovered to be a useful way to relieve tension.
